The Mission to Seafarers is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Events Fundraiser to join its small but effective Development team. Under the guidance of a new Director of Development, this is an exciting time to be joining this highly respected organisation as it seeks to increase its individual and corporate income by establishing a new Events programme.
This new role offers the successful candidate the opportunity to play a key role in shaping future events covering three elements; a Royal event, major donor and fundraising events.
The Events Fundraiser will manage the organisation and logistics of the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols which is usually attended by the President of The Mission to Seafarers – HRH Princess Anne.
You will also plan and deliver a series of special events for major donors in exclusive and intimate locations. Events will include dinners and drinks receptions. You will also plan and deliver professional dinners and challenge events which are aimed at maximising fundraising income in a cost effective way.
Initially, events will be located within the UK but future events may be overseas, so the role provides the opportunity to gain valuable experience in national and possibly international arenas.
We are looking for someone who can both ‘sell’ and ‘manage logistics’; someone who has excellent interpersonal skills, and is able to encourage and enlist the support of corporate supporters who will be impressed by your passion for helping vulnerable people. We need someone who is well-organised, has meticulous attention to detail and is excited about future development.
The Mission to Seafarers is an international Christian maritime charity. It has become one of the largest port-based welfare operators in the world working in 200 ports and 50 countries. Our frontline staff visit ships, offer hospitality, drive minibuses and engage in a range of other welfare activity. Seafarers spend up to nine months away from home and the Mission offers a friendly face and a helping hand to those in port. We help seafarers who are stranded or abandoned, assist with justice cases and support their families.
The Events Fundraiser role is based in London, near Cannon Street Station and offers flexible working, a generous pension, and 25 days’ holiday a year.
